About Me
Hey everyone!
My name is Lilly, and I'm a microbiology lab technologist based out of the DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) metroplex in Texas. I do a variety of things at my job like read urine and throat cultures. I also work the EIA (Enzyme Immunoassay) bench which primarily tests stool cultures for toxins and parasites. It's stinky, but at least I have a fancy machine that does most of the work for me!
I'm currently looking to give myself career options by going to school for Computer Software Technology at UAGC (University of Arizona Global Campus). My IT knowledge basically ends at basic computer components and how to use a computer for basic things, so I have a LOT to learn. Right now, I'm taking the course INT100: Fundamentals of Information Technology & Literacy, and my final project will be this blog.
I'm glad this course started from the fundamentals for computer components and the creation of the internet. It made me realize that even though I grew up with this technology developing, I had a lot of misconceptions about how computers worked and how the internet came about. I'm hoping the further I get into the course, the more I'll learn about different career paths and what they entail. I realized while working at my job that I enjoy things that have a visual focus but also has measurable metrics so I feel like I've made progress. I stumbled upon an Instagram video talking about UI and when I looked more into it I found out about UX. When I looked at these info graphics about the jobs, I couldn't help but think they both encompass what I would value and enjoy doing.
